WHAT MAKES A GOOD COACH?

The word coach is often overused and its not always easy to know how to choose the right one for you. Here is our definition of a good coach in a few key points :

  1. It is someone who has had a successful career (of at least 10 years) in the world of business. Their knowledge of management and directorship will enable them to support their client in working on their issues.

  2. He should have received training on coaching tools from a recognised training provider. He should also have a qualification and a certain number of hours of experience. This practical experience is evidence of the coach’s professionalism.

  3. Over and above the individual and group coaching to which he is committed, he should continually strive to develop his knowledge and skills by discovering new tools.

  4. He should combine empathy which will allow his clients to use their inner resources with confrontation, necessary to enable them to achieve their goals. He should be able to get them perceive the world differently to make them grow.

  5. Finally, he should feel strongly about keeping to his client’s value system without seeking to change his personality.
